Chinese Type 56 SKS Chest Rig
They’re in the trees… but so are you.
Ah… What red-blooded Canadian doesn’t hold a staunch love for the poor man’s AK47… the SKS. A staple of warfare since its inception; there are few soon-phased-out post-World War II rifles that have had the lifespan of the rifle, as they are still relatively commonly used in third-world conflicts in the modern day. While they were first created by the Soviets, they were eventually cloned by the Chinese on an incomprehensible scale that would make a 1944 Russian Tank Factory worker blush. During the Vietnam war, these rifles, along with chest rigs including the one pictured, flooded into Vietnam to be used by the North Vietnamese, where the rifle reached treetop infamy. The duo of the SKS and the communist chest rigs have been passed from one era of conflict to the next. But enough on the Red Rifle’s past, instead let’s focus on its place in the heart of Canadian SKS owners. It’s a choice of weapon done to death, and there almost seems to be a lack of flair people have chosen to adopt when building a kit around this rifle risking. Fortunately for you dear reader, we at Misty Mountain Supply seek to solve every issue we can think of for our community, to the point at times we have to think up problems for our solutions. And here our solution is to your SKS kit woes, our new shipment of genuine Surplus Chinese PLA (People's Liberation Army) SKS Chest Rigs, or as we like to call it “A better solution to stripper clips and loose 7.62 in your pockets.”
Features
Not three, not five, not even eight, but ten pouches to carry as much ammo as you can dream of!
Adjustable straps for any sized feller and a profile that neatly wraps around the body
Schematics
Measurements: One Size Fits All (Adjustable Straps)
Condition: Usable and will clean up nice but these are currently dusty and musty. Protip - a wash with some vinegar in it will make ‘em like new.
Manufacturing; 100% PLA Cotton. Colours will vary from green to brown. Green rigs are earlier production than the brown but functionally are identical.
Field Notes/Misty’s Musings/Potential Uses
The genuine coolest part about this item is that it isn’t just limited to being used for your trusty SKS, it provides a much-needed alternative from the overdone low-drag fanny pack (we tease) to store any and all types of ammunition. You can pair this rig with just about anything that ain’t a 50 BMG and isn’t a mag-fed platform.
Short AR mags will fit in these pouches nicely if you cut the flaps off.
