USGI M16 Cloth Bandolier

More ammo, more gooder.

The M16 cloth bandolier was introduced during the Vietnam War as a means to carry ammunition in stripper clips that a soldier could reload their magazines with. This simple “Grab and Go” concept was set because extra magazines add weight to a combat patrol load, but if you are only carrying the ammunition, it reduces the weight by a significant amount. Throughout the many wars the US has been in, you can find many photos of these being carried in combat and noncombat areas alike.

Field Notes/Misty’s Musings/Potential Uses

  • These can also be packed with 20rd M16 magazines, but generally each cell is meant to carry 20 rounds on two stripper clips.
