East German (DDR) Firefighter Helmet

CA$150.00
sold out

Although looking almost identical to the WW2 Stahlhelm, these helmets are slightly different. Experts will know that the “exhaust” holes aren’t quite the same as the WW2 era helmets and will also note that the liner is different. The biggest difference however is that this helmet took a suggested WW2 improvement that the Germans didn’t use. They actually made them out of their own proto plastic material. These are nice and light but protect against ash and embers. Normally these helmets would include a leather fold out neck flap, but this one has been lost to time.

Some paint is scrapped, it is well represented by the photos. No size is written inside, but I have a large head of 58cm and it fits me with lots of room.
