Canadian Forces IMP (Old Gen)
Chicken A La King, now THAT’S A CLASSIC.
We all know the Canadian Forces cuts corners and funding like it’s going out of style, but one area they have NEVER cut corners in, is the MRE department. In 1981 the CAF was spending 7.50 per meal. Adjusted for inflation that’s just under 25 maple pesos a pop!
Each meal generally includes (with some variety):
Main Meal Item
Desert Item (Often fruit in syrup)
Beverage Powder (huge assortment of flavors)
Bread
Coffee
Sugar
Whitener
Chocolate Bar
Gum
Spread for bread
And of course, each meal will also contain: Salt, Pepper, MRE Spoon, Towelette, Matches, Paper Towel and a Toothpick.
These meals have been stored in a cool, dry and dark place and although are past the expiry, you can take comfort in knowing they’ve been treated with utmost care.
If you’d like to see an exact breakdown of the menu, MREInfo has an excellent write up
