West German 1970s Pattern Field Cap
We all recognize the iconic M43 cap shape, and the Germans have actually not strayed from it since WW2. In the 1970s they switched to a 100% cotton design for increased comfort, lower cost and simplicity. These hats are nearly identical to their modern Flectarn brethren save for their rigid brim, which the modern iteration of these hats lacks.
These hats have been in a warehouse since the Cold War and although they are in good, but used condition, the brims will need to be reformed. Our favorite trick is simply placing a heavy book or two on the brim on a table, then shaping it as we like while its on our head.
