USGI TAP w/ Macabre Upgrades

This thing is crazy! With nearly unlimited modularity, this magazine carrier system works both with or without a plate carrier. The Tactical Assault Panel (TAP) was introduced to replace the FLC Vest fielded prior, as a more useful and faster fighting rig, prioritizing quick-release attachment in emergency scenarios where operators may need to equip or discard their gear rapidly. The Tactical Assault Panel can be worn as a standalone chest rig, independent of body armour, or be used as a webbing harness similar to the prior fielded Ranger Assault Carrying Kit (RACK).

Nonetheless, it was built to be integrated with other equipment fielded by the United States Military the time of development including:

  • The Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV),

  • Releasable Body Armor Vest (RBAV)

  • Modular Body Armor Vest (MBAV)

What does this mean FOR YOU?

Using the built in swift clips, you can throw this badboy on basically any plate carrier quickly and easily if you prefer to run it without the H-Harness.

Features

Base Components of the Tactical Assault Panel include:

  • A full MOLLE front, so it can be set up to your needs

  • Eight front pockets (velcro closures) perfect for magazine, GPS, radio etc storage

  • Three large mesh pockets on the reverse (for maps, admin or small tools)

    • left and middle are velcro secured

    • right pocket is zippered

  • Quick-Release buckles allows for detachment in scenarios where time is of the essence (replaced with better quick release buckles from the Macabre Kit)

  • Compatible with many forms of plate carriers and fighting rigs (Full list of intended options listed above)

Macabre Upgrades:

  • Padded Multicam H-Harness.

The Padded Harness features 1/4" closed cell foam only in the shoulder area, adding a bit of cushion without extra bulk. It also features a laminate PALS column on each side, allowing for the attachment of pouches, PTTs or other items.

  • Multicam Backstrap

It’s a backstrap.. You adjust it. Built with durable Nexus hardware.

  • 4 Durable Nexus Buckles (see gallery on where to attach them)

The Macabre Advantage:

Built using US made, Berry compliant materials (except in the case of Temperate Woodland). The Harness is constructed of primarily 500d Cordura and Squadron laminate. Webbing is 17337 Nylon and buckles are ITW Nexus.

Proudly Made In Canada.

One size fits basically all. This thing is INCREDIBLY adjustable.

Note: The core of the rig is used (The TAP), but all of the fixin’s are brand new.

Field Notes/Misty Supply Musings/Potential Uses/Trivia

  • Genuinely this thing is like if the AR15 and the Chicom rig had a love child, the modularity on this is mind blowing!

  • The original backstrap/Y-strap connector location on this rig is.. not great. We fixed it by moving it to the bottom edge for a more secure and stable fit!

  • The TAP rig is probably one of the nicest, if not the nicest, surplus chest rig to ever hit the market. Modularity and durability, now with much wanted upgrades included!

  • If you’re an AK guy, cut off the nylon closures and add your own bungies and BOOM, AK mags will work!
