USGI "Polypro" Cold Weather Bottoms
1980s tech that still kicks butt to this day!
The US had a problem as they entered the 1980s. They were still relying on largely wool based coats and uniforms for cold environments which are bulky and heavy. Enter the ECW program. Layering. Wow. Who would have thought of that?!?! Well actually not many, this was pretty revolutionary for a military at the time.
Enter Polypropylene (Polypro), or most commonly known as “synthetic”. It’s incredibly light and dries quickly, making it an excellent part of a layering system. It’s real only downfall is that when exposed to extreme heat, it melts. So maybe don’t sit right next to the fire wearing it unless you have something on top.
This system was used for decades until the PCU system revamped the US Military ECW system.
These are lightly used and in great shape with the only wear being storage related. These all deserve a wash (there are instructions on the tag) and may have a waistband that doesn’t stretch like it used to, but this can be easily solved by just rolling it down over itself as these are meant to ride high.
As far as we can discern, we have these for the lowest price online anywhere so snap up a set or 3 to keep yourself cozy for year to come!
