These molle backed pouches are designed to hold 1 or 2 STANAG magazines. They close with a long velcro strip on the front. This can be adjusted for both the amount of magazines in the pouch AND to secure magazines with baseplate extensions. This will fit PMAGs just fine like the M16A2 pouches, but 40 rounders are too tall to secure with the top flap.
