US Navy Rubber Trigger Mittens
They aren't the gloves from “DRIVE” but they’ll do…
The 37-M-430, or as we prefer to call it, the Three Finger Deckhand Mittens, (a mouthful I know...) are a pair of gloves with little background yet a simple purpose. Issued to Navy crewmen between the 40s and 50s, these rubberized mittens not only helped seamen endure the high seas wrath, come rain or shine, but also provided an additional layer of warmth and comfort with their snug cotton interior. The benefits of their efficiency doesn’t extend only to their waterproof and warm properties, but also their bizarre, alien-like appearance has a benefit in its design. Every level of this glove was designed with the intent of being useful. The pointer finger has its own sleeve, to ensure improved small arms and deck gun trigger finger range of movement, improved grip control for moving cargo, and operating and other tools and duties. Inside each glove will be a USN stamp (United States Navy) along with an unknown number and two letters. Ex 420 BI. These mittens will make an excellent pair of work gloves for a variety of jobs, or make good shooters gloves in the winter.

Elasticated cuff makes getting your hands in-and-out smooth and avoid fumbling
Schematics

Discoloration and flaking likely present (gives character)
Manufacturing
Rubber exterior

Field Notes/Misty Supply Musings/Potential Uses/Trivia
The best use of these gloves to ensure maximum warmth is wearing a thinner pair of flexible finger gloves, like wool under these and using them as a second layer.
