Soviet "Socialist Competition" Winner Medal
A good idea that didn’t work out at all! Who could have expected this from the Soviets?!
The Soviet Union was famous for it’s “5 Year Plans” which were meant to have the company make huge leaps forward in industry, agriculture and military might.
They created a “Socialist Competition” to encourage workers to not only achieve these goals, but actually surpass them. Of course, as the goals themselves were already quite unrealistic, it lead to a lot of cheating, hoarding and the rest. A disaster.
But, as the Soviets are not one to admit defeat despite being faced with it, they kept the competition until the bitter end - as the competition put incredible weight on the economy and supply chain and contributed to the overall end of the USSR.
As a part of a winning team, you would be awarded one of these medals. They are all The same, save for the year it was awarded.
