South African Railway Police Parade Cap
These were issued to members of the South African Railway Police (SA.RP). They are reminiscent of commonwealth “crushcaps” in their styling and construction. They have a leather sweatband and we have a full size range!
As these have been stored since the 1980s, it is recommended to shake the dust off and give them a quick wipe with a damp cloth.
These are rare even in South Africa, so to see them and in such desirable sizes in North America is a very rare treat indeed. We will likely never see these again.
A cool tidbit about these is that the SARP was integrated into the SAP in 1986, so these hats were made at the very end of it’s organizational history.
