PLA Type 81 Chest Rig
Like the Type 56 but better!
The Type 81 Chest rig was introduced in, you guessed it, 1981 to be used alongside the Type 81 rifle. This rifle and chest rig replaced the Type 56 rifles and chest rigs for the PLA. These rigs however have been seen all over the world and will also accept normal AK magazines (as well as AR mags and a few others). They have 4 magazine cells vs the standard 3 of the Type 56 rig and have 2 Grenade pouches that happen to fit snacks or ammo boxes nicely!
You can also stretch these rigs by using hot water and stuffing them full and having the canvas set. This will let you fit 8 mags snugly.
These rigs can’t be beat for price and the fact that they just work.
Note: Colours will vary from green to brown. This is just a difference of manufacture era, they are functionally the same. Strangely, some of the rigs we received are a combination of brown and green in construction, likely from extra materials being repurposed at a later date.
