Published by the United States Department of the Army in 1961, this handbook was the United States Military’s response to the sinking realization that this whole modern insurgent warfare wasn’t gonna be as cut and dry as it was a hundred years prior, in the form of a breakdown for American warfighters of what they could expect to face and how to use it to their advantage. Just because the book is a little dated, it’s still a treasure trove of timeless techniques of combat strategy and much more. There’s a lot of insight to be taken from this book as well. When you contrast the analysis of guerilla warfare from when the book was written in the 60s to the present day stratagems of guerilla warfare, there's a lot to be inferred in the evolution of what makes a deadly insurgency and the best tactics to help or hinder one.
