Israeli compression bandages on a budget!

If anyone knows the importance of preparing for a disaster, it's the Czechs. They understand fairly well, when shit hits the fan, one must improvise and adapt, using whatever is available. We don’t all have half a grand to drop on a gucci IFAK from generic “tactical-medic-vetbro.”* It doesn’t hurt to go for more affordable options even if you don’t have every piece of equipment needed for an IFAK or medbox. If anything, it can be cheaper and more effective to build your own from scratch. This bandage set is a cheap yet effective place to start, being a vital piece of medical gear for Czech soldiers since its inception in 1984 communist Czechoslovakia.

** The story, all names, characters, and incidents portrayed in this production are fictitious. No identification with actual persons (living or deceased), places, buildings, and products is intended or should be inferred.

The kit functions with two pads connecting along the mesh green portion, with one pad secured firmly. The second pad is shiftable along the length of the aforementioned mesh bandage. This second pad remains moveable yet not unwieldy, by implementing a cuff system similar to a belt through a hoop. After a limb has been bandaged fully, the final wrap is done by using a safety pin. Do note that unlike an Israeli field dressing or compression bandage, this Czech Armáda Bandage cannot be cranked down.

  • As the instructions on the packaging are written in Czech, and our own above are relatively vague and untested on the field, the best way to learn how to best use this particular first aid response kit is to search online on Google and Youtube.

  • It’s a sterile dressing, it’s not complicated. Take a class, learn how to use them. Make sure you pack it with you.
