A tough fought battle in which the Canadian Army, along with the French Army mounted the first major offensive by the West in WW1. They were directed to retake and hold a 6km gap of previously lost line at Ypres. They covered a significant amount of no-man’s land, completely exposed to German fire, then bashed through obstacles with the butts of their rifles before charging the last 200m to the German line. They took heavy casualties, inflicted heavy casualties and earned a fearsome reputation that day.
This sticker stands as a tribute to those who fought against overwhelming odds with poor commanders, poor equipment and even less supplies and managed to take and hold the line.
