Bophuthatswana Flag
Bophuthatswana was a small Bantustan in northern South Africa from 1977-1994. Bantustans were usually traditional homelands of a specific African ethnicity that declared independence and at some level operated its own government, including military.
Bophuthatswana endured and ultimately failed after a series of coups and attempted coups. This culminated in 1994 when the White Nationalist group “AWB” entered the Bantu and began blocking roads and firing at civilians. After the poor handling of this the crisis by police and military (and the prior coup attempts and heavy soviet influence on high level politicians), Bophuthatswana was dissolved by South Africa.
This is not a military flag, it is just the regular flag of the Bantustan. This example was made in 1986 (See photo 3)
